TALK ABOUT VAPING WITH YOUR KID

  • If you’re waiting for the right time to have a vaping conversation with your child, it will never come. By using the resources provided here, you’ll be ready to start at any given moment. (4)
     

  • Say something if you see someone vaping or if you see a vape advertisement.
     

  • Ask your kid if they’ve seen vapes at their schools.
     

  • Ask if they’ve seen vape videos pop-up while they’re using social media.
     

  • Be curious and don’t feel like you need to have all the answers in the beginning.

HELPFUL TIP:  Pay attention to your kid's conversations with their friends and take note if they use words and phrases related to vaping.

  • Vapes are small and easy to hide, so you need to know how to identify them.
     

  • Vapes come in different shapes and sizes, too. They’re also known by many names like “Juul,” “e-cigarettes,” “pens,” and “hits.”
     

  • Search the internet for vaping videos and take note of the phrases and words they use.

Unless you catch your child in the act, it can be difficult to determine if they are actually vaping. Vapes are often disguised as everyday objects and come in a variety of flavors, like bubble gum, mint, fruit and menthol.
